a US based company dealing with retail eCommerce launches the
CaribFresh web-site.
Twenty countries in the Caribbean region are part of the CARIbbean
COMmunity (Caricom) trade
treaty promoting a Single Market Economy (CSME)
between all member countries. This includes the free transportation of goods.
The Caribbean sea, sun, weather and local culture made the
Caribbean islands one of the most wanted tourist destination on earth. This led
to a boom in the tourism industry which caused hotels, resorts, cruise ships,
airlines and other companies to appear in this region. Traditionally, this
region relayed on local agriculture to support a substantial amount of its local
demand for fresh food, mean, fish and produce. In addition, good weather
conditions, government concessions and geographical location paved the way for
some large scale agriculture manufacturing operations to appear in the region.
Millions of tourists to the region each year tripled and quadrupled the need for
fresh food, meat fish and produce in the region. Local agriculture is no longer
able to produce the required quantities. This triggered large scale importing of
food to the region, primarily from the US and Canada (due to their geographical
proximity to the area). This makes the fresh produce market a buyer only market
where anyone capable to produce quality products and reach the buyers market is
able to sell his produce at excellent prices. In addition the fact that between
CARICOM member nations there are no import taxes, which can reach up to 35% in
some countries, emphasis even more the need to find locally grown fresh produce
and not import it from outside the region.
LirTrade LLC identified this opportunity and set out to build such
community online where:

Farmers can list their existing and planned produce, buy the
products they need to produce (equipment , fertilizers, irrigation systems,
etc), and find related services (e.g. consulting, etc).

Buyers can find the produce they need in their region, save on
import taxes and compare prices.

Marketing companies can promote the produce manufactured by the
farmers they market and find suitable buyer.
This community is designed to be a member only community where the
information is given to all parties without the company interfering with the
market or taking any position on the stocks and produce.
